Review: Ouran High School Host Club, Vol. 1

1087204 Ouran High School Host Club, Vol. 1 by Bisco Hatori
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

One day, Haruhi, a scholarship student at exclusive Ouran High School, breaks an $80,000 vase that belongs to the 'Host Club', a mysterious campus group consisting of six super-rich (and gorgeous) guys. To pay back the damages, she is forced to work for the club, and it's there that she discovers just how wealthy the boys are and how different they are from everybody else.

Review: This was a library read.

This weird. I liked the characters, but the idea of a Host Club is strange to me. Everyone is super fake, and it's just about guys who flirt and flatter girls for entertainment. While the girls know full well none of it's real, they still line up for this attention. That said, I did enjoy reading about all the awkward moments and liked seeing how they react to a poor kid, and a girl at that, joining their club. I will probably read on, but not sure how far I'll make it in this series.

  1. This sounds interesting but also like something I wouldn't really like. I hope you like the rest of the books!
